In what comes as a major blow to Tottenham’s rumoured pursuit of Jota, journalist Rudy Galetti has revealed that the winger is now expected to stay put at Al-Ittihad.
Jota has only made five appearances in the Saudi Pro League since his switch from Celtic in the summer, with the winger being overlooked by Al-Ittihad over recent months since the club are reportedly over the limit of the foreign players allowed in the competition (TEAMtalk).
With Tottenham thought to be eyeing a versatile attacker in January following the injuries to Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic, several reliable sources have backed the Lilywhites to make a move for the Portuguese star.
This includes an update by Football.London’s Alasdair Gold, who stated a few days ago that the 24-year-old ‘fits the bill’ for Ange Postecoglou, and that Spurs are expected to explore a loan move for him.
Jota could be set to stay in Saudi despite Spurs links
Galetti has now taken to X to reveal that Al-Ittihad have not received any offers for the former Celtic man so far.
The journalist further asserts that with Marcelo Gallardo now taking over the Saudi Pro League side’s new manager, Jota is expected to remain in Jeddah, with the winger allegedly expected to play a ‘key role’ for the Argentine coach.
#Jota scored his 1st International goal with #AlIttihad in the decisive match of #ACL vs #Sepahan.
To date, no club sent an official bid for his possible transfer in Jan.

Spurs Web Opinion
I am not too upset by this news as there is little to no evidence to suggest that Jota is good enough for Premier League level, let alone for a side with top-four aspirations. In fact, I suspect the only reason that Spurs were interested in the deal was that the winger was seemingly available on loan.
