Sky Sports have revealed that Tottenham could dip into the loan market to strengthen out-wide in January.
A couple of days ago, we relayed a report from TEAMtalk, which suggested that Spurs could be one of the busiest Premier League clubs in next month’s transfer window, with the Lilywhites alleged to be targeting three new signings.
This claim has now been backed up by Sky Sports, who state that Ange Postecoglou’s men want a centre-back, a left-winger and a central midfielder in January.
Loan moves on the cards for Spurs in January
However, they say that Tottenham’s top priority is to find a quality central defender, and they might not have a lot of funds left to address the other areas.
This is because Spurs ‘do not have a huge transfer kitty’, and they might thus end up looking at loan options such as Al-Ittihad winger Jota.
Sky Sports also back up what we have heard from other outlets over the last few weeks by stating that the North London club are eyeing Samuel Iling-Junior.
They point out that the Juventus star is represented by CAA Base, the same agency which represents Postecoglou, Heung-Min Son and James Maddison.
Finally, the publication asserts that Tottenham’s pursuit of a central midfielder in January is dependent on potential outgoings.
Spurs Web Opinion
Spurs historically do not tend to do much business in January and one would not expect us to spend big, unless some good market opportunities open up.
The big question is whether Posteocoglou deems it necessary to sign a number nine. The Australian might be convinced that he does in light of his side’s recent struggles in front of goal.
