Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou has named his side which will take to the field in this afternoon’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United in North London.
Tottenham arrive into the fixture looking to end their frustrating run of form, having dropped a league-high 16 points from winning positions this season, with 14 of those coming since the start of November.
Both sides head into the fixture on the back of defeats when Spurs threw yet another lead to lose against West Ham United, while Everton were on the receiving end of a 3-0 defeat at Everton.
Creativity and putting the ball in the back of the net more than once has been an issue for Spurs in recent times, something which Postecoglou admitted that his side will not be likely to bring in a ready-made player in January to help with the issue and instead will have to look towards young talent.
He told Football.London on Friday: “Well, it is not easy because when you talk about the finished product, you know what that is going to cost in the market and there aren’t that many there. So, it is about developing young players here and giving them information and more room for them to continue to grow and understand the different options they have in those areas.
“Some of it is experience of them being in those positions and us giving them new information to execute it better next time.
Can Spurs beat Newcastle?
Injuries remain a problem for Spurs with Ivan Perisic, Manor Solomon, Ryan Sessegnon, James Maddison, Micky van de Ven, Rodrigo Bentancur, Eric Dier, Ashley Phillips and Alfie Whiteman all still ruled out, while Pape Matar Sarr came back into the fold against the Hammers in midweek.
After a remarkable start to the season, Spurs have picked up just a single point since their last win against Crystal Palace on the 27th October; something which must change fast if the club still have aspirations of Champions League qualification.
Richarlison starts in attack with Heung-min Son fit to start following his back injury against West Ham, Giovani Lo Celso and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg drop down to the bench.
This is who takes to the field under the lights in N17 this afternoon:
Tottenham XI: Vicario, Porro, Romero, Davies, Udogie, Bissouma, Sarr, Kulusevski, Johnson, Son, Richarlison.
Subs: Forster, Royal, Dorrington, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Lo Celso, Donley, Gil, Veliz
Newcastle XI: Dubravka, Trippier, Lascelles, Schär, Livramento, Guimarães, Miley, Joelinton, Almirón, Isak, Gordon.
