According to Ge Globo, Tottenham Hotspur might have to wait until next summer to get their hands on Brazilian starlet Andre, with Fluminense considering keeping hold of the player past January.
Andre has emerged as one of the best number sixes in the Brazilian top flight over the last couple of years and the midfielder has been capped by the Selecao four times this year.
Unsurprisingly, a whole host of Premier League clubs are alleged to be watching the 22-year-old, with Globo Esporte reporting a little over a month ago that the likes of Spurs, West Ham, Arsenal and Liverpool had all scouted the youngster.
January sale might not be on the cards for Andre
Ge Globo have now revealed that Fluminense has not yet received a formal offer from any Premier League side for Andre, even though the player is of interest to several sides.
It is alleged that the Brazilian side value the midfielder at €35m (£30m), and they have doubts over whether any club would be willing to pay that fee in next month’s transfer window.
As a result, Fluminense are said to be considering putting off Andre’s sale until next summer as they believe that they could get a bigger fee for him that way.
However, the outlet does point out that ‘everything can change’ if the Brazil international shines in the ongoing Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia.
Spurs Web Opinion
£30m does not seem excessive for a player who has now established himself as a starter for Brazil. I would be quite surprised if the 22-year-old is still at Fluminense on the 1st of February.
