According to a report in TuttoJuve (as relayed by TMW), Tottenham Hotspur could now face fierce competition for Samuel Iling-Junior, with Aston Villa and Brighton said to have reached out to Juventus over a deal for the winger.
Iling-Junior caught the eye with his performances at the Allianz Stadium after breaking into the Juve first-team last season and the youngster looked set to push on with his development.
However, things have not gone according to plan for the 20-year-old this season since he has fallen down Massimiliano Allegri’s pecking order, coming on as a substitute for all six of his Serie A appearances so far in 2023-24 (Transfermarkt).
Over the last month, various outlets have revealed that the England Under-21 international is keen on leaving the Turin club in search of regular game time and that Spurs are at the front of the queue for his signature (TuttoSport).
However, last week, it was revealed by TEAMtalk that Tottenham could face competition from Brighton, who were also reportedly keeping a close eye on the Islington-born product.
Plenty of Premier League interest in Samuel Iling-Junior
TuttoJuve now claim that it is not just Brighton who are ready to challenge Spurs for Iling-Junior but also Premier League high fliers Aston Villa.
The report states that all three Premier League sides have ‘started initial contacts’ with the Italian giants over a deal for the Chelsea academy graduate but none of them have made any offers yet.
The publication adds that Juve value the attacker at €18m (£15.5m) and are keen to reinvest the cash from his sale on Allegri’s top January targets.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham were never going to have a free run at Iling-Junior. It was always inevitable that other Premier League clubs would join the race for the youngster.
Our chances of landing the 20-year-old might come down to whether Ange Postecoglou can convince the player that he will get sufficient game time in North London compared to the other clubs interested in his signature.
