According to The Metro, Manchester United may not allow Tottenham Hotspur to sign Jean-Clair Todibo without a fight, with the centre-back said to have emerged as a priority target for Erik ten Hag.
Tottenham appear to have now stepped up their efforts to sign Todibo over the last 48 hours, with Fabrizio Romano reporting on his YouTube channel on Wednesday that the Lilywhites have begun discussions with Nice as well as the player’s entourage over the possibility of bringing him to North London.
Romano stated that Spurs want to conclude the deal swiftly and do not want the negotiations to drag on until January.
However, he warned that it is far from a done deal as of yet, with United also continuing to monitor the French international.
Manchester United remain interested in Jean-Clair Todibo
The Metro have now shed more light on United’s interest in Todibo, revealing that the Red Devils have been ‘long-time admirers’ of the player.
It is explained that there are also growing doubts over Raphael Varane’s long-term future at Old Trafford, with the Frenchman thought to be on the radar of Saudi Arabian sides.
As a result, it is reported that Ten Hag is keen on strengthening his defensive backline, with the Nice star said to be ‘one of the primary names’ on the Dutch coach’s wishlist.
Spurs Web Opinion
The one factor that could give Manchester United a considerable advantage is that Nice are owned by the INOES Group, who are on the verge of buying a stake in the Manchester club. That could perhaps why Spurs are in a hurry to complete a deal for Todibo before the takeover goes through.
