Ange Posteocoglou has praised Dejan Kulusevski’s recent displays but insisted that the winger is capable of potentially going up another level.
Tottenham needed their attacking players to step up after James Maddison’s injury last month and it is Kulusevski who has put his hand up, having been the Lilywhites main creative outlet in the final third over the last month and a half.
Not only has the Swede started producing goals and assists but he has also been excellent in the number ten role whenever he has been asked to play there.
The 23-year-old is now starting to get the recognition that he deserves, with Gary Neville waxing lyrical about him after Tottenham’s win over Nottingham Forest, remarking that the former Juventus man could evolve into a £100m player (Sky Sports).
Is there more to come from Dejan Kulusevski?
Postecoglou stated that he is delighted with how the winger has stepped up recently, admitting that he adds a different dimension to the Spurs attack when he plays centrally.
When asked if we have seen the best of Kulusevski this season, the Australian coach told Football.London: “I hope not, I think there’s more to come with Deki, he’s still fairly young age-wise as well. I’ve been really pleased with him because he’s played a number of positions for us.
“One of the reasons we’re getting through this period is guys who’ve been willing to sort of take on different roles, whether it’s him, Ben Davies, Emerson Royal, guys who’ve had to play different positions for us at different times.
“Irrespective of the position Deki has been a real impact player for us the whole season, whether that’s out wide…I really like him playing inside, it gives us another dimension in terms of our attacking threats.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Postecoglou’s statement suggests that he is going to persist with Kulusevski as the number ten role against Everton and in the next few matches, which is not a surprise as the Swede has been a much bigger threat when is given the freedom to drift and pick up the ball in pockets.
