Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham’s new chief footballing officer Scott Munn has been given more power than anyone who has worked at the North London club under ENIC’s and Daniel Levy’s ownership.
Amidst pressure from the fans, Levy has taken a step back from the footballing operations of the club over recent years.
The Spurs chairman appointed Fabio Paratici as the managing director of football back in 2021, and after the Italian was forced to resign due to his involvement in Juventus’ capital giants scandal earlier this year (The Guardian), there has been a restructuring at the North London side.
Munn was appointed as the club’s new chief footballing officer, taking over as Levy’s number two while Johan Lange was subsequently brought in as the sporting director.
Scott Munn has a whole lot of power at Tottenham
Gold explained on Football.London a couple of days ago, unlike Paratici, who often signed players for the future irrespective of what Antonio Conte thought, Lange’s role is a lot more limited, with Ange Postecoglou making the final decision on any incomings.
The journalist has now also shed more light on Munn’s role at Hotspur Way, stating on his YouTube channel: “Scott Munn, the chief football officer now has more responsibility and power than anyone else has ever coming into the club.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It is clear that based on Munn’s CV and his job title that he has been tasked with overseeing the footballing side of the club, including the academy and the women’s team, while his predecessor, Paratici, was more focused on the recruitment side of things.
