Genoa president Alberto Zangrillo has warned Tottenham Hotspur that the Serie A side will hang on to Radu Dragusin if they feel the deal is not favourable.
At the start of last week, several outlets suggested that Spurs are aiming to agree a £25m deal for Dragusin in a matter of days (Daily Mail), but negotiations for the centre-back have perhaps not been as simple as the Lilywhites envisaged.
Reports over the last couple of days have continued to insist that Tottenham are confident of securing the Romanian international’s services, with the 21-year-old thought to be keen on making the switch to the North London club (Football Insider).
On Friday, Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas reported that Ange Postecoglou’s men do not have concerns about Napoli entering the race for the former Juventus star.
Genoa’s warning to Tottenham about Dragusin bid
Zangrillo has now asserted that Genoa will not sell Dragusin or any other player against their wishes this month, suggesting that the club are yet to make a final decision on the centre-back.
When asked about a potential Tottenham bid for the young defender, the Italian side’s president said (via Fabrizio Romano): “Radu is a top player and top guy but we will make our final choice. We don’t need to sell anyone, we will make our decision but we won’t be forced by anyone.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Genoa’s public statements should be taken with a pinch of salt as their aim would obviously be to pinch every penny possible from Tottenham.
By all accounts, there is not a big difference between the valuations of the two sides, which is why there should be a breakthrough within the next couple of days.
