Joe Rodon continues to impress on loan at Leeds United, and fans of the Championship club are keen to see the Welshman sign permanently from Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season.
Since joining Tottenham back in 2020, Joe Rodon has made just 24 appearances for the Lilywhites. To put that into perspective, the defender has already made 23 appearances for Leeds in just half a season (Transfermarkt).
It is safe to say that things have never worked out for Rodon at Spurs, but it is also fair to say he has never been given a fair chance to play regularly and show what he can do.
That has all changed this year thanks to a fruitful loan spell with Leeds United. The Yorkshire club are flying in the Championship and look likely to be in the mix for a shot at returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Joe Rodon earning praise at Leeds United
A lot of that success can be attributed to the solid displays of Rodon in defence, and the latest buzz around the player from those connected to Leeds suggests the club should hold on to the 26-year-old (Football.London).
Rodon played the full 90 minutes of Leeds’ two most recent games—as he has done for most of the campaign—and picked up plenty of praise from Leeds Live, too.
In a rare defeat against West Brom, Rodon was said to have shown his “usual level of assurance in the defence” despite a couple of errors.
However, in the win over Birmingham at the weekend, the website wrote: “Some of his recovery work behind Liam Cooper in the first half was immense. The speed and effectiveness of his runs, tackles and interceptions were outstanding.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Sadly I think Joe Rodon is just never going to have a future at Spurs and he should definitely sign for Leeds permanently. He clearly flourishes in the Championship, but if Leeds go up this season, I reckon he would become a key player for them in the top flight, too.
