No sooner have Manchester United sent Sergio Reguilon back to Spurs, than the Red Devils have been linked with a move for another Tottenham Hotspur full-back, this time Ryan Sessegnon.
Eyebrows were raised when Manchester United decided to solve their injury crisis by signing Sergio Reguilon on a loan deal at the end of the summer transfer window.
The Spaniard, who has been out of favour at Tottenham for the last couple of years, made 12 appearances for Erik ten Hag’s side (Transfermarkt) and proved to be a popular figure among the United fan base.
Manchester United looking at Ryan Sessegnon
However, Reguilon is now back at Spurs after United opted to utilise the break clause in his loan agreement, but that doesn’t mean the Old Trafford outfit are done looking for a new left-back, and they may well find their next signing at Tottenham.
That’s according to journalist Miguel Delaney in his latest for the Independent, who claims Ryan Sessegnon could be a target for Manchester United this month as they look to replace Reguilon.
Delaney said: “Along the same lines, there will be no purchases until after sales are made due to Profit and Sustainability concerns. They may need a full-back to replace Sergio Reguilon and that open channel to Tottenham Hotspur has raised the prospect of Ryan Sessegnon.”
Sessegnon is expected to return from his longstanding thigh injury at some point this month, though his future under Ange Postecoglou is unknown at this stage.

This would be an incredibly odd move for Manchester United to make, especially given Sessegnon’s own injury record over the last few years. Besides, I have a feeling Ange Postecoglou is going to want to take a good look at Sessegnon and utilise him as the backup to Destiny Udogie for the rest of the season.
