Crystal Palace are thought to be keen on signing Oliver Skipp on loan, but the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder will not be made available for an exit this month.
As the January transfer window reaches its halfway point, it is Spurs who have been one of the more active teams in the Premier League so far, but there is still work to be done.
It is very likely that the Lilywhites will allow a handful of players to leave on loan this month as Ange Postecoglou continues to refine his squad for the second half of the season and beyond.
Just how much of a future Oliver Skipp has at his boyhood club remains to be seen, with the midfielder far from a regular starter for Spurs this term. Despite making 16 appearances in all competitions, he has an average of just 36 minutes per game so far (Transfermarkt).
Skipp to Palace is unlikely to happen
There would be clubs keen to sign Skipp were he made available for transfer, it seems, and the latest from The Athletic suggests Crystal Palace would be interested in bringing the 23-year-old to Selhurst Park.
The Eagles are reportedly looking to strengthen in the middle of the park, with loan deals “more likely” than permanent transfers at this stage.
It is said Palace “admire” Skipp, but as much as they would like to sign him, it is believed the midfielder would not “be available for loan this month.”
Spurs Web Opinion
With his homegrown status, and the fact that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is so keen to move on, I can’t see Skipp being given a move this month. However, I would not be surprised to see him leave in the summer once we can get another midfielder in, and a move to a club like Palace would suit Skippy to the ground.
