Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon is on the verge of completing a loan move to Brentford after the two clubs agreed a deal, according to the Daily Mail.
Reguilon joined Manchester United on a temporary basis in the summer, however, the agreement contained a break clause which the Old Trafford outfit triggered earlier this month to send him back to North London.
The 27-year-old made 12 appearances for United, most recently as a late substitute at Nottingham Forest and was initially signed following injuries to the club’s left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
With Shaw and Malacia nearing fitness, the former Premier League champions decided they did not need Reguilon for the remainder of the campaign which has now opened the door for a switch to Brentford.
Reguilon set for Brentford medical tomorrow
Brentford are without their first-choice left-back after Rico Henry injured his ACL earlier in the campaign and Reguilon is now expected to undergo a medical tomorrow.
Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou decided soon after joining the club that Reguilon was surplus to requirements with Destiny Udogie having joined the club from Udinese and has cemented his place within the Australian’s starting eleven.
It is claimed that the deal should be completed tomorrow once the former Real Madrid player has completed his medical with Thomas Frank’s side.
