Pedro Neto is set to be sacrificed by Wolves in an attempt to stay on the right side of Financial Fair Play regulations, and Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are now likely to battle it out for his signature in the summer.
Premier League clubs are on edge as FFP continues to crack down this year. Everton have already been punished with a ten-point deduction this season, and the latest checks appear to have put the Toffees in the firing line once more, along with Nottingham Forest, and Wolves had been mentioned, too.
However, the Midlands club avoided any sanctions last month (The Athletic) thanks to a number of player sales.
Spurs want Pedro Neto from Wolves
That doesn’t spell the end of their issues, though, and the club will reportedly need to make a big sale this summer if they are to add new players to Gary O’Neill’s squad. That’s according to The Sun, who claim Spurs and Arsenal will look to take Pedro Neto off their hands.
Apparently, it now “seems certain” Neto will be the one to make way for Wolves, and Tottenham are “keen to do business” for the Portuguese winger.
It is thought Arsenal are “long-term admirers” of Neto’s, while Liverpool and Manchester United have also shown interest in the past. It is the two London clubs who are expected to “compete” for the player’s signature this summer, though.
The deal will be an expensive one, with bids expected “to start at £60m” and it is believed the fee “could even top £70m” depending on Neto’s form in the final stages of the campaign.
Spurs Web Opinion
When he’s fully fit, Pedro Neto is a quality player who has bags of creativity. If we had him feeding balls into the box for Richarlison, we would be unstoppable. It’s just his injury issues that concern me.
