If Tottenham Hotspur, or any other club for that matter, are to sign Pedro Neto this summer, they will have to pay Wolves a fee of at least £60m, with the Midlands club finding themselves in a fairly strong position to negotiate.
Despite the signing of Timo Werner on loan until the end of the season, it seems Spurs are still in the hunt for a wide player who can truly take them to the next level, and they may be looking at Pedro Neto as that player in the summer.
Wolves managed to avoid any Financial Fair Play penalties last month, after balancing the books with big sales such as the £53m deal that took Matheus Nunes to Manchester City in the summer (The Athletic).
However, a report from The Sun earlier this week claimed Neto would have to be sold at the end of the season if Gary O’Neill is to be able to bolster his squad in a number of areas. It is thought Spurs and Arsenal head up the chase for the winger.
Wolves set £60m asking price for Pedro Neto
Now, the latest from The Standard suggests Wolves may not be quite as restricted as first thought, and will push for at least £60m if they are to let Pedro Neto leave the club.
It is believed Wolves are now in a “strong position” and will hold out for a club-record fee for their star asset this summer.
Neto has garnered “big interest” from the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal, and Liverpool, according to the report, and an “elite club” is considered the next step for Neto. Wolves now anticipate a “bidding war” for his services.
It is thought Ange Postecoglou is an “admirer” of Neto’s, as he continues to find players who can adapt to his “high-octane brand of football.” The report adds that any move for Neto would depend on the Lilywhites’ decision, or lack thereof, regarding Werner’s purchase clause.
Spurs Web Opinion
Pedro Neto really would be perfect for us, but you could say that about any of the top clubs in the division. He’s definitely ready to move up to the Big Six, and it will just depend on which club is willing to pay the fee, and which proposition he wants the most.
