RB Leipzig manager Marco Rose has said that he is quite pleased with the way Timo Werner is playing at Tottenham Hotspur, insisting that the forward’s displays are a plus for the German side.
Werner had fallen out of favour under Rose in the months preceding the January window, with the forward deciding to take up the option to join Tottenham on loan last month.
The transfer received a mixed response from the British press, given the German international’s struggles at Chelsea in the past, but Spurs seemingly found the low-risk nature of the deal ( loan along with an option with an option to buy) too good to turn down.
Since arriving at Hotspur Way, the 27-year-old has demonstrated just why Ange Postecoglou was keen on bringing him to the club, with the forward’s directness and his incessant work-rate off the ball making him a natural fit for Tottenham’s system.
Timo Werner is at Tottenham to assess his situation
It remains to be seen if Werner can convince Spurs to take up the £15m option to buy at the end of the season but Rose believes that the forward’s impressive start to life in London is good news for his side.
When quizzed about reports that the pace wide-man is happier at Tottenham than he was at the Red Bull Arena, the Leipzig boss told Bild (via Sport Witness): “I think I made a lot of effort for Timo. The issue is very complex overall. My office is always open, there was always the opportunity to talk to me. Overall, we had a good dialogue. Every player feels a little differently.
“Timo used similar words when he came to Leipzig from Chelsea. Timo should be happy that he’s doing really well again, that he’s playing a lot and performing well. Just like we do for him. Otherwise, it’s very important to pause, be humble and correctly assess your own situation.
“We support him, we watch his games. We’re happy when he scores goals and when we see how he reacts to his own mistakes in the game, how he runs back, how he gets involved. He should keep at it. That’s good for us and for him. And then we’ll see what happens in the summer.”

Given the relatively low value of the option to buy, one would assume that Tottenham would activate it at the end of the season unless the German stinks up the place over the next few months.
However, if the 27-year-old falls out of favour and struggles for starts, it is possible that he might hesitate to make a permanent switch to North London.
