Fabrizio Romano believes that Tottenham Hotspur will enter the market for another wide player when the transfer window reopens in June.
Tottenham strengthened their forward line, their defence and their midfield in January with the acquisitions of Timo Werner, Radu Dragusin and Lucas Bergvall respectively, with the latter set to link up with the Spurs squad before the start of next season.
The club also came close to signing another tricky wide player in the form of Antonio Nusa, having reportedly agreed a €30m (£25.7m) deal with Club Brugge for the 18-year-old at one point (The Athletic), only for the player to choose to join Brentford instead.
However, in a dramatic twist in the final days of the transfer window, the Norway international failed a medical at the Gtech Community Stadium (Ben Jacobs).
It has since been suggested by multiple sources that Tottenham could reignite their interest in Nusa during the summer.
Tottenham are expected to sign a new attacker and midfielder
This includes Charlie Eccleshare, who said on The View from The Lane podcast a few days ago that Ange Postecoglou is keen on signing a skilful dribbler of the profile of Manchester City star Jeremy Doku, with the Club Brugge star said to fit the bill.
Romano also believes that Spurs are likely to add reinforcements in the wide areas at the end of the season, with the journalist also backing them to add another midfielder to their squad.
He told CaughtOffside’s YouTube channel: “I see Tottenham doing something important at that position [winger] in the summer transfer window and in midfield.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham’s interest in Nusa definitely signals that Ange wants another pacy wide player in the squad. The club’s eventual decision next summer might be influenced by whether they activate the option to buy Timo Werner as well as on how Manor Solomon does when he returns from injury.
Despite the signing of Bergvall, there is no doubt in my mind that Spurs will move for another midfielder next summer as both Hojbjerg and Skipp are likely to depart the club.
