Radu Dragusin finally got some meaningful minutes under his belt last weekend, though it came at the cost of Micky van de Ven who picked up an injury in the win over Aston Villa. Now, Ange Postecoglou has clarified which player will start the game this weekend.
Having signed from Genoa during the January transfer window, Radu Dragusin has had to remain patient in breaking into the Spurs team. Opportunities have been limited by the impressive form of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven alongside each other in the Tottenham backline.
With just eight minutes to his name before last weekend, Dragusin finally had a substantial part to play in the win over Aston Villa last Sunday.
Van de Ven pulled up with a hamstring concern after 49 minutes, and Dragusin was thrown into the fray. Far from being unnerved by the situation, the Romanian defender flourished and came out of the game with plenty of praise heading his way.
Radu Dragusin will make his first start for Spurs
Looking ahead to this weekend’s clash with Fulham, Ange Postecoglou has been asked who will start the game alongside Romero, and offered a very plain answer, as well as heaping more praise on Dragusin.
He told Football.London: “I’ll take the suspense out of it. He’ll start tomorrow. He’s had to be patient for his opportunity with Micky and Cristian being outstanding and one game a week. I thought he did well with his opportunity. I think he can bring us something different.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I’m very excited to see Dragusin get his first start for the club, and he will really get a chance to show what he can do now. I have the utmost faith in the pairing of Romero and Dragusin, and I fancy them to keep Fulham very quiet at the weekend.
