TEAMtalk have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are still waiting in the wings to pounce on Conor Gallagher after issues arise in the contract talks between the midfielder and the Chelsea hierarchy.
With Gallagher entering the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge in June, his future continues to be the subject of much speculation as we get closer to the summer transfer window.
TEAMtalk say in their latest update that Spurs continue to watch the situation closely, with many at the North London side convinced that the 23-year-old would be the perfect fit for Ange Postecoglou’s set-up.
No breakthrough in Conor Gallagher contract talks
The report explains that early talks have been ongoing between Gallagher’s representatives and the Blues about a contract extension but there is said to be ‘a discrepancy’ over the wage demands.
Even though Mauricio Pochettino is pressuring the club to keep the England international and the midfielder himself wants to stay, an official offer has not yet been presented.
The outlet adds that some at Spurs believe they would be able to do a deal for around £30m in the summer while Chelsea think they can get as much as £50m for the player.
Spurs Web Opinion
Chelsea’s financial issues are well documented and they would have to raise quite a bit of funds early in the summer. Gallagher is one of their most sellable assets and being an academy graduate, the fee they get for him will be pure profit.
I thus do not see the Blues offering the 23-year-old a new deal and I am convinced that they will try to sell him as soon as the window opens, although they would ideally hope to offload him to someone other than Tottenham.
