In what comes as a potential defining development in Tottneham’s pursuit of Pedro Neto, Wolves boss Gary O’Neil has revealed that the winger could miss the rest of the season after his latest injury.
Neto’s injury record over the last couple of years makes for grim reading but despite that, he was thought to be at the top of the wishlist of many top sides across the Premier League, which perhaps shows how good the winger has been this campaign.
It had been widely reported over the last few weeks that Ange Postecoglou was keen on adding a wide player to his squad and that the 23-year-old was one of his preferred options (The Independent).
Tottenham were far from alone in their admiration of the Portuguese winger, who is also said to be on the radar of Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Manchester United, with some outlets over recent days establishing the Gunners as the front-runners for his signature (GiveMeSport).
Pedro Neto could be out for the season
However, Neto’s most recent injury will perhaps put off some of the interested clubs, with the winger coming off with a hamstring problem in Wolves’ 2-1 win over Fulham earlier this month.
When asked about the winger’s injury, O’Neil said (via Charlie Haffenden): “Pedro, potentially end of the season for him, very similar to the injury he had on the other side.”

This will certainly make Spurs and other clubs reflect on whether it is worth spending big on Neto. At the very least, it will take £10m-£15m off the winger’s transfer fee and perhaps convince clubs to negotiate a deal with several appearance-based add-ons.
