Destiny Udogie’s agent Stefano Antonelli has admitted that his client’s value has skyrocketed since his move to Tottenham Hotspur, adding that the demands on the youngsters are now substantial since he plays for one of the Premier League’s top sides.
While there was a lot of excitement about Udogie’s arrival last summer, given how well he had done at Udinese over the last two seasons, it is fair to say that the left-back has surpassed the expectations of even the most optimistic of Spurs fans.
The 21-year-old has seamlessly adapted to the pace and intensity of the Premier League and looks like he was made for English football, and has also looked quite comfortable in the inverted full-back role, which often requires him to receive the ball centrally in quite advanced areas.
The youngster has already been capped twice for the Italian national side and looks set to play an important part for the Azzurri at the European Championship next summer.
Destiny Udogie is soaring at Spurs
Antonelli has now spoken about his client’s development and the pressures associated with playing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
When he was informed that Udogie is the Italian player under the age of 23 with the highest market value at this moment in time, the agent told TuttoMercatoWeb: “He plays in the Premier League, which is the most important league in the world.
“He’s a starter at Tottenham at the age of 21, it’s normal that his price gets a certain value. I read that for TransferRoom, his price is worth €59m, a figure derived from algorithms.
“He’s an important player. Every day we’re in discussions and he knows that to be a protagonist in that league, you have to be at 110% from all points of view. It’s an extreme league, both in quality and physicality.
“There’s no press there to criticise you like in Italy, it’s true, it’s more focused on gossip, but you don’t win with Tottenham, it’s felt. There is pressure for them too, not winning is a problem. So far, he has played 24 games as a starter and is doing well.”

Udogie, like Pape Sarr and Micky van de Ven, is on his way to becoming a world-class player if he is not there already. If Tottenham do not start competing for major honours within the next two years, one would expect several of Europe’s biggest clubs to vie for the left-back’s signature.
