Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to keep a close eye on Alexander Isak, with the Lilywhites expected to spend big on a centre-forward in the summer.
Isak has been a big hit since his switch to Newcastle in the summer of 2022 and it emerged earlier this week that the 24-year-old has emerged as a shock target for Tottenham.
This information was first reported by The Sun, who suggested that the Magpies are expecting offers from both Spurs and Arsenal for their star striker when the transfer window reopens.
Spurs ready to spend big on a striker
Football Insider have now backed up the interest of the two North London sides in Isak, revealing that the Lilywhites have set aside ‘big funds’ in their summer budget to sign a number nine.
The report explains that Eddie Howe’s men will sell one of their big players this summer in order to ensure they abide by the FFP obligations.
Their current stance is said to be that Isak will remain at St James’ Park but both Spurs and Arsenal are thought to be monitoring the situation closely.
However, the publication adds Tottenham could be put off by the huge fee that Newcastle are expected to demand for the Sweden international.
Spurs Web Opinion
I would be quite surprised if Newcastle sold Isak this summer as they have few other sellable assets. It is likely going to take a monstrous offer to convince the Magpies to part ways with the 24-year-old and I cannot see Tottenham putting that kind of money on the table for a striker this summer.
