BBC announces first two Gladiators set to terrorise contestants in rebooted series
THE first two Gladiators to appear in the brand new revival series have been uncovered.
During an appearance on The One Show this evening, the first two muscly stars were revealed.
CrossFit UK star Zack George is the first Gladiator on the show[/caption] He will be joined by sporting star Jodie Ounsley[/caption]Zack George becomes the first male star confirmed for the programme and he is set to prove to be tough competition for the contestants to take on.
The hunk won the title of the UK’s Fittest Man 2020 and will perform under the worthy title of Steel.
Zack is a leading UK CrossFit star and came 26th out of an eye-watering 126,461 competitors on the global CrossFit chart.
He’s even graced the cover of Men’s Health magazine where he stripped off to show his ripped body.
Earlier this year Zack became a father to his little girl and has shared precious moments with the tot on Instagram.
Alongside Zack on the new series will be Fury aka Jodie Ounsley.
Jodie has played professional rugby league for the Exeter Chiefs and like Zack is also an award-winner herself.
She won the Deaf Sports Personality of the Year award in 2020 and advocates ferociously for deaf people to actively take part in sport.
It has won her the honoured role as President of UK Deaf Sport.
Not only this, Jodie is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu British Champion and five times World Coal Carrying champion and already has her own link to the popular programme.
Jodie’s father appeared as a contestant back in 2008 and she has been aiming to out do him ever since.
Earlier today, the BBC confirmed that father and son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh would be hosting the show together.
Gladiators has always been a huge part of the Walsh family; Donna Walsh, Barney’s mum and Bradley’s wife, was head choreographer for the Gladiator cheerleaders on the original series.
Bradley, and a very young Barney were regular visitors on set, with Barney taking some of his first steps on the iconic arena floor.
Bradley said: “Wow! I can’t believe that I’ve been asked to be part of this iconic show.
“I used to sit backstage, or in the audience, every week watching my wife be part of this juggernaut and now I get to co-host a new version of Gladiators!!! Saturday night family entertainment at its best…ARE YOU READY ?!“
Barney added: “Gladiators has been a massive part of our family and it’s an honour to be asked to co-host this iconic show.
“I’m so excited for everyone to see the spectacle, elite athletes and fantastic family entertainment that is Gladiators.”
The 11-part series will see a new generation of superhuman Gladiators compete against a brave set of contenders in the ultimate test of speed and strength.
