She shared that the secret was being savvy with what she bought in the supermarket and suggested sticking to the basics.
But her most controversial tip – skip meal planning, and buy what’s on sale instead.
Known online as @ebbymoyer, Rebekah regularly shares parenting tips and life updates with her 246,200 followers.
In a new reel, she said: “So I’m one of seven kids and my mum raised us all on a really healthy diet and a minimal paycheck.
“And she’s here, and she’s going to give you some tips.”
First, Rebekah asks her mum what staples people should be buying if they’re trying to be healthy on a budget.
Her mum replied: “Well super, super frugal, I can give you the list that I gave your brother when he went to college and he was the only one in his house that could cook.
“And they were throwing £5 a week each, five of them.
“You want carrots, onions, potatoes, celery if you can, cabbage, and tinned tomatoes.
“So you start with those things.
“And of course, it’s helpful to have your dry goods in your pantry so you can just use them.
“You know, your basics – beans, lentils, rice, quinoa, oats.
“But you don’t meal plan. You get your staples in your house, and then you go to the store and see what’s on sale as far as your meats and your produce items, and your fruits and vegetables.
“You don’t meal plan and then have to get those certain things because they might not be on sale this week.”
Other staples she recommended stocking up on to bulk out your dinners included all your basic cooking oils, like olive and coconut.
She continued: “Your basic oils, I guess. You know olive oil, coconut oil, apple cider vinegar.
“And make your own salad dressing, don’t buy salad dressing. Make your own, it’s so much cheaper.
She added: “I always have molasses because it’s really, really healthy and gives flavour to things.
“Honey, plain yogurt, tuna in cans, other cans of beans. Again check for these things on sale.
“Apples, oranges, bananas, lemons.”
Fans loved her savvy tips, with her recommendations gaining more than 856,300 likes and 6.3 million views.
In the comments, TikTokkers shared their reactions, with one writing: “Okay this is so helpful ur moms so cute.”
Another said: “LOVE the idea to have the staples & then see what meats, etc are on sale. Your mom is awesome. Thank you for sharing!”
A third added: “This is basically my strategy plus I always a giant bag of frozen broccoli on hand.”
Someone else put: “Thank you, momma. I appreciate you.”
