Mum uses leftover pizza packaging to give kids’ room a bargain glow up – but it really divides opinion
A MUM has left people divided with her unique DIY technique – with some suggesting the design she chose for her kids’ bedroom wall is a little too like a game of Connect 4.
Em Victory took to TikTok to share how she gave the walls a bargain glow-up by using leftover pizza packaging to create a circular pattern on the walls.
But not all were convinced, with some labeling it a mistake, and others comparing it to a popular board game.
Known online as @emvictorystudio, the mum-of-four regularly shares savvy home hacks and DIY tips with her 9,400 followers.
In a new reel, she said: “Okay, so we moved into our house three years ago and it’s been my personal mission every since to just get rid of the grey.
“So I first painted it white, then I took an acrylic paint marker and traced around a literal bottom of a frozen pizza cardboard thing.
“So yeah, this is my kids’ bedroom. I saw someone do this on Instagram once, it wasn’t my original idea, and I’ve been kind of obsessed with it since.”
During the 35-second video, Em is seen tracing the circular pattern across two walls, before filling each shape in with black satin wall paint.
She continued: “Anyways, in the corner, you can just fold the pizza tray and then it just becomes a fill-in-the-circle game.
“Such a satisfying process.
“I have two kids in this bedroom – oh yeah, and then when you just go around a vent, you literally trace around it with a market and it works really well.
“Here’s what we got.”
Her idea attracted plenty of attention online, with the budget makeover gaining more than 19,100 likes and 963,900 views.
However, TikTokkers were divided on what they thought of her painting technique, with one writing: “Holy connect four.”
“I love this idea for a feature wall, maybe in a few shades of blue,” commented another.
“My favorite sims wallpaper,” joked someone else.
A third added: “Should have kept the grey.”
Em replied: “My ENTIRE house was that grey – w/ grey floors. It felt monotonous and drab. Now I walk in —- & just notice it all. Feels right. To each their own.”
Someone else put: “Love this, it looks very Marimekko.”
