I’m an expert – here’s what really happens when the window on a plane breaks
AN EXPERT has revealed what really happens when a plane window breaks and why passengers shouldn’t panic.
TikTok star and vlogger Hank Green has advised passengers not to panic if they manage to break the widow next to them on a flight.
He said: “You are not in any danger but its going to be really annoying to fix.”
Hank, who has millions of followers on TikTok, explained that the window next to the passenger is the inner pane.
Hank explains that the inner window protects the outer window in the rare instance that something hard and sharp hits it.
The interior window also protects the passenger from the noise outside the aircraft.
The interior window also provides a form of insulation to protect the passenger from the cold air outside the plane.
Hank explained that the exterior window was much stronger than the interior window. This window has the crucial role of holding the pressure of the plane in.
Members of the public appeared to agree with Hank’s conclusions.
One user who claimed to be a pilot said: “As a pilot, I can assure you this is spot on.”
Another user said: ” That’s all well and good but I still don’t want to sit next to the broken airplane window.”
Hank, who has 7.5m followers on TikTok, is also known for a successful YouTube channel he produces with his brother.
Hank is also the author of two novels which were both New York Times Best Sellers.
