I live in a tiny home – the downsides they don’t tell you about, including a fog issue
A TINY home owner said there are many problems that come with small-space-living that most people don’t know about.
While everyone understands storage is limited, things like ongoing fog and squeaky floors aren’t as talked about.
A tiny home builder and owner said there are some minor inconveniences that come with the lifestyle[/caption]A Texas-based DIYer (@neversaycant) decided to downsize and build himself a tiny home.
Although clearly a fan of the lifestyle, he said there are certain annoyances that one should know before making the move.
“There are a few learning curves to being in a space this small, and here are the bad things,” he began in the clip.
The designer’s first complaint was that the dishwasher, which is smaller than one you would put in a standard home, never fully dries anything that isn’t glass or metal.
He also said the windows are constantly fogged.
“It gets very humid in here. I am going to get a humidifier and that is one thing you will need to purchase because the windows fog up.”
Moving onto the cabinetry, he said because space is so limited, the cabinets often become messy – with items scattered around.
By the same token, he said the things like pots and pans are stored in inconvenient locations that are hard to reach.
“You have to be very organized.”
Once you get a hold of those pots and pans, your sautéing will create its own set of problems.
“The smell of cooking, even with a vented range, goes all over the structure.”
And finally, because it doesn’t have much concrete or wood to support it, the floor creaks in certain areas.
“Minor inconveniences. But, you have to be prepared for things like this when you are in such a small space.”
