Taylor Swift’s film of Eras tour to give struggling cinemas a multi million-pound boost
TAYLOR Swift’s film of her record-breaking Eras tour is due to give struggling cinemas a multi million-pound boost.
It is released this Friday — with movie chains still starved of releases following the US actors’ strike.
Taylor Swift’s upcoming film is set to give cinemas a much-needed boost when it releases next week[/caption]Global advance sales have already reached £81million, said US cinema distributor AMC.
In the US alone, her concert film is projected to make £194million in its first four weeks — so worldwide the takings are likely to be astronomical.
Taylor’s popularity forced film producer Jason Blunt to bring forward the release date of Exorcist: The Believer to avoid a clash.
He joked online “#TaylorWins”.
Taylor, 33, is set to make £1billion from the 146-gig tour in five continents.
The 160-minute film was shot over three nights in LA.
Vue cinemas boss Tim Richards said it had “come out of nowhere and will be a significant lifeline to cinema operators worldwide.
“Really big acts are realising there’s another way of monetising their music concert.”
Beyoncé is due to bring her Renaissance tour film to screens in December.
