MasterChef hopeful gets the boot after ‘trying to poison’ Gregg Wallace and John Torode with huge mistake
A MasterChef hopeful was sent home tonight after nearly poisoning Gregg Wallance and John Torode with too much salt.
Peter, 49, accidentally covered his carrots in the seasoning instead of sugar, which cost him his place on the show.

During an awkward exchange, John was seen pulling a face as he tucked in and asked: “What’s the acidic heat on the carrots.”
Baffled, Peter replied: “There was none – that was just butter and sugar.”
Breaking the news to him, John said: “I think you may have mistaken the sugar for salt.”
Afterwards Peter admitted: “Nerves really got the better of me with that dish there.”
He joked it was no surprise he was sent home after ‘trying to poison’ the judges.
Those watching at home were gutted for him making such a big gaffe.
“Poor sod,” said one, while someone else added: “Mistaking salt for sugar. Rookie mistake.”
And a further person remarked: “I’m sure Peter’s a decent cook, but he’s had an utter nightmare under pressure.”
“Peter going down in a blaze of salty glory. And sugary tears,” commented someone else.
Before his appearance, Scottish Peter revealed why he had applied, saying: “After watching MasterChef for years and developing my cooking skills, I always thought about entering the competition but never had the courage.
“After posting some of my dishes online, friends and family used to comment on how good they looked, then one day an old friend messaged me out the blue with the link to the MasterChef 2024 applications, and the rest is history.”
