I own a teeth-whitening studio but an at-home tool is my best tip for pearly whites – it makes it actually enjoyable
GET ready to ditch the hefty dental bills: An orthodontist swears by an affordable at-home tool to maintain your dazzling smile.
Say goodbye to costly cleanings and hello to pearly whites with her budget-friendly hacks.
Orthodontist Erin Fraundorf, the founder of Boca Studio in Missouri, loves to fix her patients’ smiles.
One of her best inexpensive tips is to have an “incredible” oral hygiene routine.
“Look at oral care like self-care,” Fraundorf told The U.S. Sun in an exclusive interview.
“Make it an experience that you enjoy instead of dread and you will be more likely to do it,” she said.
Her No. 1 tip for people is to own an electric toothbrush.
“Something as seemingly simple as an electric toothbrush is the best whitening tip I have,” she said.
“It sounds silly, especially when I own a teeth whitening studio, but it’s true,” the orthodontist added.
There are two ways to clean teeth: mechanically and chemically.
“Mechanical teeth whitening is based on the removal of surface stains via a physical means,” Fraundor said.
Examples of mechanical whitening are using an electric toothbrush, whitening toothpaste, and having a dentist clean your teeth.
Chemical teeth whitening, however, occurs when a solution is applied to the teeth.
“These whitening agents penetrate into your teeth by using a chemical reaction, oxidizing stains, therefore removing color and making your teeth appear whiter,” she said.
Fraundorf’s favorite toothbrush is Oral B iO.
It costs $99.99 on Amazon, has a rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars, and more than 3,400 reviews.
But there are more affordable options, too, like the Sonic electric toothbrush, which costs $9 on Amazon.
Fraundor said to change your brush head every three months and brush twice daily for two minutes.
She said this will “effectively remove daily stains.”
