She shared the must-try design tips she swears by for embracing the “quiet luxury” trend in outdoor spaces.
Many homeowners are eagerly anticipating spending summer in their gardens and have begun to work on overhauling the space.
Those taking inspiration from social media will have noticed the popularity of “quiet luxury” for all things related to style.
Also known as “old money,” it describes an aesthetic that emphasizes “timeless” elegance, according to Homes and Gardens.
Sue Jones is the Creative Director and Co-founder of UK-based homeware brand OKA.
She revealed to The U.S. Sun how to bring the trend into gardens amid “having its moment in the spotlight.”
SPLENDID SEATING
She recommended making the backyard feel cozy with sofas and cushions that are an “extension” of interior design choices.
“I think, first and foremost, the goal is to create a feeling of comfort and tranquillity,” Jones said.
“Garden furniture made from rattan or wood lends itself quite nicely to the quiet luxury aesthetic because of its neutral color palette and organic textures.
“To add a touch more luxury – and who doesn’t want to do that?
“I’d suggest choosing furniture with a statement weave or striking, structural shape.
“Don’t forget to add softness with cushions or throws in muted, warm tones such as ochre or mustard – they will tie in well with the neutral palette.”

Jones recommended styling the space with cushions and candles that evoke a desirable feeling.
“If you’re looking for colors that will feel uplifting, sunshine yellow is associated with high energy and optimism,” she said.
“Verdant green hues can be simultaneously calming and stimulating.
How to make your backyard a little paradise
Houna Bech is an interior designer and founder of the style blog With Houna.
She revealed to The U.S. Sun five tips for transforming a drab outdoor space into a “sensory-rich little paradise.”
- Embrace nature
“Use your landscaping, trees, flowers, and organic environment as your muse,” she said.
2. Bring the inside out
“Repeat color palettes, textures, and materials so the transition between indoors and out is seamless,” she said.
3. Create zones for specific purposes
“I might design a luxurious cabana with plush loungers and vanities for alfresco makeup sessions with my girlfriends,” she said.
4. Prioritize comfort
“I’m talking cloud-like sectionals, upholstered daybeds, and oversized weather-resistant poufs you can really envelop yourself in,” she said.
5. Get creative
“Finally, turn your entire outdoor area into an artistic installation,” Bech said.
“Blues that are closer to turquoise can be enlivening, whereas cooler, softer tones like duck egg and cornflower blue are more peaceful.
“Zingy orange evokes charm and personality, while pinks can be cozy and inviting.
“Meanwhile, some may seek the serenity that a neutral tone brings, so pairing warm whites with earthier taupes can add interest and refresh simpler palettes.”
FINISHING TOUCHES
The tips come after real estate expert Crystal Olenbush shared advice for maximizing a small space.
She said whether the backyard will be used mostly for socializing, lounging, or planting vegetables, it won’t be “complete” without plants.
She suggested installing vertical gardens and low-maintenance plants such as herbs.
“I also suggest considering a water feature like a birdbath – the subtle sounds of trickling water create such a serene environment,” she added.
