Coronation Street flop as soap’s first ever live cast show has scores of unsold tickets
CORONATION Street’s first UK live cast event has flopped.
The live Q&A – dubbed the first ever in the UK – with cast members Mikey North and Ryan Prescott takes place tonight at the Medina Theatre on the Isle of Wight.
Organised by a private company and not the soap itself, promised fans that they would hear “stories, secrets and much more” from the two actors.
There was also to be a live auction of signed memorabilia to raise money for a local charity on the island.
Standard tickets were offered for £29.50 while special VIP tickets that included a meet and great with the stars themselves went for £59.
But with just hours to go before the show scores of tickets were unsold in an embarrassing flop for organisers.
The 425 seat theatre still had a whopping 286 tickets left for sale leaving vast swathes of the audience empty for the event.
And even the VIP tickets with a promised up close and personal experience and chance to have pictures with the stars were not sold out.
A source said: “It’s a really embarrassing situation and something has clearly gone very wrong.
“Corrie is still one of the most-watched shows on TV week in week out and Mikey and Ryan are two of the most popular stars from it.
“They’ll be professional and give the fans who do go a great time but to have so many unsold tickets is definitely unexpected.”
They added: “Mikey travelled to Canada a few years ago on a Corrie tour alongside Millie Gibson and they had packed audiences throughout.
“Whatever has gone wrong here should not be blamed on the boys.
