I’m almost 70 and wish I’d known a hard truth about makeup sooner – it’s plagued my whole life, now I search for dupes

They explained that most people don’t know what they have until it’s gone, makeup included.
After decades of trying out cosmetics, their go-to trick is to stock up on your favorites.
“I’m almost 70 and I will tell you this as I’ve had lots of years of dealing with cosmetics,” they wrote.
“You can almost take this to the bank. Whenever you find a brand of makeup you like, be it foundation, blush, eyeshadow, [or] mascara, it will eventually be discontinued.”
They explained that the cycle has repeated for them nonstop, and they’ve learned to deal with the disappointment.
“My whole life has been falling in love with a product and down the road BAM, they no longer make it,” they said.
“You go searching for something else that will work. Doesn’t matter how good the product is or even if it’s high-end, sooner or later, things will change.”
She warned beauty fans to have a stockpile of items they couldn’t live without.
“I just wish we had prior knowledge to stock up on it before it’s gone,” she said.
“My sister is a makeup artist and has been since the 80s and we still talk about [the] makeup we loved that’s now gone. It sucks.”
Fans agreed that her advice applied to nearly every product.
“This is true for any of our personal holy grails,” said one commenter.
“Blue jeans that fit your every curve? Gone. The most comfortable and supportive bra you’ve ever worn? Gone. Favorite moisturizer? Reformulated and now irritating. It’s the worst!”
Beauty fans mourned the loss of their favorite products and clothing items.
“I’m grieving my jeans now. They stopped selling this cut and my pair is getting worn,” said one.
“I would have gotten a couple extra pairs if I’d known or thought of it.”
The original poster explained that they’ve spent a fair amount of time looking for dupes, especially for their favorite perfumes that are no longer being made.
“I’ve searched and searched for dupes as I make body products myself and buy dupes a lot and make the whole line of soaps, shower gel, lotions, body sprays, and perfumes,” they wrote.
Unfortunately, they’ve never managed to find a dupe for one of their favorites, Gio by Giorgio Armani.
“Never found a Gio dupe. They make [Acqua Di Gio] but not Gio. I save a ton of money doing it myself as I buy Gucci dupes, Chanel, Jimmy Choo, [Yves Saint Laurent], Kenneth Cole, etc,” they explained.
