A TRAVEL expert has revealed why making “enemies” at an all-inclusive resort could potentially ruin your holiday.
Caroline Morse Teel, has travelled and stayed in resorts around the world.
She recently shared what people should avoid doing at their next all-inclusive stay.
The travel guru urged travellers to be respectful of others at the resort to make everyone’s time enjoyable.
At these all-inclusive retreats, guests never have to leave the property as everything is at their service.
Unlike a standard hotel, “you’re more likely to see the same people over and over again throughout your stay,” Caroline explained.
This can become awkward if you find yourself in a confrontation with another guest at the resort.
Caroline recommends you don’t cut in front of someone or make snide remarks during your stay, as it could potentially ruin your trip.
Instead, “try to be on your best behaviour” as there is a high chance you’ll be running into your “enemies” constantly.
Another huge mistake people make at an all-inclusive resort is assuming everything is part of the package.
Some resorts exclude luxury restaurants and drinks from standard packages, according to the travel expert.
She added: “If you assume that everything is all-inclusive and take advantage of all amenities, you could be surprised with a very high bill when you check out.”
Although all-inclusive resorts offer guests anything they’ll need, it is important to explore outside the hotel.
The travel expert recommends visiting the local area to get a feel for what the “culture is really like”.
A common mistake people make at all-inclusive resorts is overeating and drinking to get their money’s worth.
This will leave you feeling ill and lazy the next day, said Caroline.
Instead, she urges resort-goers to treat it as a “marathon, not a sprint”.
Travellers who don’t overdo it on the food and alcohol tend to have a better vacation overall, the travel expert added.
