Overcoming a slide job attempt from Mike Marlar on a lap-35 restart, second-starting Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Georgia, led all 60 circuits of Saturday’s Gauntlet finale at Volunteer Speedway!  Davenport raced largely unchallenged, beating Ricky Thornton, Jr., by 2.512 seconds for his seventh overall feature win of the 2026 season.  His second victory this week at Volunteer Speedway secured Davenport a lucrative $100,000 bonus – offered by track promoter Vic Hill – to go along with the feature’s $30,000 top prize. “Big Sexy” Brandon Overton captured night two of the inaugural Gauntlet at the Gap tonight at Volunteer Speedway!  Brandon laid down the quickest lap in Group B during qualifying prior to winning his heat race.  After starting from the outside of the front row in the 40-lap headliner, the Evans, Georgia standout led all forty circuits en route to capturing the $10,000 first place prize over runner-up Benji Hicks, Ricky Thornton, Jr., Zack Mitchell, and nineteenth-starting Devin Moran. For “The Gauntlet at the Gap” event, we have a total of 13 standard double queens and 10 standard kings available in the block. The block is active from 4/14 – 4/19. Guests can stay any number of nights during this time. The rate is $129.00 + tax per night. The deadline for booking at this discounted rate ends on 04/10/2026 – after that date, rooms will be released back into the general inventory and the rate will no longer be available.
