JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Early Sunday morning, a Jamestown man was taken into custody after police say he illegally started a fire and lunged at an officer.
Not long before 6 a.m., officers responded to a wooded area near Steele Street. There, police say they found a fire and Steven Walsh, 50, "concealing himself in the woods and screaming erratically." Police also say he began wildly swinging large branches and "continued to feed the fire he started." A struggle ensued when they tried to take him into custody, they said.
Walsh, after being brought under control, was found to have a bench warrant out of Jamestown in connection with another burning incident. He was subsequently charged with resisting arrest and prohibited burning.
Following this, he was held pending arraignment.
