Vidal: ‘I want to show who I am at Inter’
Arturo Vidal insists he has no intention of leaving Inter, assuring the club has faith in him. ‘I want to show the whole world who Arturo Vidal is.’
The Chile international turned 34 in May and his contract only runs to June 2022, although there is an option to extend for another year.
He was linked with a return to South America or a switch to Qatar, even suggestions he could terminate his contract by mutual consent to get his salary off the Inter wage bill.
However, he seems to have no desire to walk away from the Scudetto winners, even after Antonio Conte made way for Simone Inzaghi.
“I met the new coach and have been talking with him for three days,” Vidal told Inter TV ahead of this evening’s friendly against Crotone.
“I think he’s a good coach who talks well and helps the team feel good. I also spoke to my teammates and they’re very happy, working well and ready to have a great season in Serie A and the Champions League.
“I can’t wait to get back on the pitch, as last season was not too good for me, I lost the last few months of the campaign due to injuries. This season I want to be at 100 per cent and show the whole world who Arturo Vidal is.
“I spoke to the club, we have a good rapport. They have a great deal of faith in me and I feel the same way about them. We need to see the Vidal that everyone knows, targeting a Scudetto and going all the way in the Champions League.”
Since the €1m transfer from Barcelona in September 2020, Vidal has made just 30 competitive appearances in the Nerazzurri jersey.
He scored two goals and provided two assists, but was ruled out by a knee injury in March.
The Chile international recovered in time to represent his country at the Copa America.
