Jessica McCaskill holds the WBC and WBA welterweight titles
After narrowly escaping 2023 with her WBC and WBA welterweight titles in two, Jessica McCaskill is set for an away game when she meets Ivana Habazin on April 20th in the latter’s native Croatia.
No word on broadcast rights.
It’s been a rough 14-ish months for “CasKilla” ( 12-3, 5 KO), starting with a November 2022 loss to Chantelle Cameron in a bid to become two-weight undisputed. The detour cost her her IBF and WBO welterweight belts, and to make matters worse, Matchroom got smoked in the purse bid for her mandatory defense against Habazin (22-5, 7 KO).
That would up falling through, leading Habazin to move up to 154 and unsuccessfully challenge Terri Harper. McCaskill instead took on Sandy Ryan, who’d claimed the aforementioned WBO belt, and turned in arguably a career-worst effort en route to a bogus draw.
Habazin returned to the top of the queue, her promoter again won the purse bid when Matchroom sat out, and now here we are.
Ryan was not impressed with the matchmaking.

Habazin has always come up short in the big ones, but McCaskill seems to have lost a step and European judging is rarely beholden to reality. Assuming McCaskill takes the fight, which isn’t a guarantee, who knows what’ll happen.
