Sheriff's Deputy Injured by Suspect Resisting Arrest
Deputies responded on Wednesday evening regarding a violation of injunction in a stalking case. Deputy Phil Conway was on scene to take Leslie Pitter, 42, into custody for the violation. Pitter would not follow commands from the deputy and refused to place his hands behind his back. The Deputies attempted to secure Pitter in handcuffs when he began violently resisting arrest. As Pitter pulled away from deputies, Deputy Conway tried to restrain Pitter and Pitter threw Conway over him and both fell to the ground. Deputy Conway's left shoulder struck the pavement and was dislocated. He also sustained a laceration to his chin. Both deputies continually gave verbal commands for Pitter to stop resisting arrest and eventually deployed a Taser at Pitter. After he was secured Pitter began taunting Deputy Conway.
