France to Increase Border Security After Identitarians Use Helicopters, Trucks in Alps 'Defend Europe' Action
https://lemde.fr/2Jk8QDV | French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb has announced an increase in border officers on the Italian border after the Identitarian "Defend Europe" mission launched a successful symbolic border control action to highlight illegal migration into France.
Around 80 to 100 Identitarian activists from across Europe took part in the two-day action which saw the group deploy helicopters as well as drones and create a symbolic border control checkpoint at the Col de l'Echelle mountain pass in the French Alps.
The group claimed that due to their actions on Saturday, not a single migrant ventured across the mountain pass into France from Italy.
The mission provoked strong reactions from media, far-left activists, and Interior Minister Collomb who called it "unacceptable".
Pierre Henry, head of the far-left pro-asylum seeker France Terre d'Asile organisation, denounced the Defend Europe mission on Twitter arguing that Generation Identitaire should be dissolved.
