Voters in a competitive Central Michigan district will decide control of the state Senate on Tuesday in a special election to fill the seat last held by Democrat Kristen McDonald Rivet, who's now a congresswoman. The voters have been without representation in the state Senate for 16 months. Democrats now cling to a 19-18 state Senate majority. A Republican victory would deadlock the chamber at 19 senators each. The nominees are Democrat Chedrick Greene, Republican Jason Tunney and Libertarian Ali Sledz. The winner will serve the remaining eight months of McDonald Rivet's term.
