French charity sounds alarm about Seine ahead of Olympics

A French water charity sounded the alarm Monday about pollution in the Seine just over 100 days before the start of the Olympics when the river is set to be used for swimming events. Surfrider Foundation said it had analysed six months of tests over winter undertaken by a laboratory and concluded that the river water remained polluted and potentially dangerous.

The 39-year-old wild card Wawrinka, formerly ranked no.3 in the world but now down to no.79, was no match in the first round for the Australian who prevailed 6-3, 6-0 on the main Rainier III court. Gaza war rages as Hamas studies truce proposal

More than six months into the war, Hamas said it was "studying" a new proposal for a temporary truce, submitted during the talks with US, Qatari and Egyptian mediators.
