Re: Post-Football
But the actual sport of football is boring these days. Really boring. And you can't even take beer in. That's like not being allowed to watch Springwatch whilst you're having sex.

Really? I barely know anyone who gives a monkey’s about the supposed ‘razzamatazz’ Surrounding sport - fireworks, half time shows, whatever, it’s all bull. It’s just a tedious distraction from the actual sport.
Slightly different angle here.....
Iconic in the sense of crucial.
Albion away September 2010.
Here's why...
We'd come off the record breaking season in 09/10 and the club looked to be on the up. We were of course scared of second season syndrome.
We started brightly with a 2-2 draw at Sunderland from 2-0 down then in our first home game we went 1-0 down to Blackburn but won 2-1.
A throwaway 2-2 draw at Bolton was then followed by a well earned 0-0 draw with Liverpool. Читать дальше...

Yet another glorious failure. Shame eh?
Us older uns remember them qualifying for the Argentina World Cup in 78 when England failed.
They were arrogant and obnoxious at the time. They even took a player called Derek Johnstone with his leg in plaster claiming that he'd be ready for the quarter final(!). Peru tore them a new one in the first game. Then had Willie Johnston testing positive for a banned substance.
We didn't laugh at this terrible misfortune at all, did we......?

The game against Swindon sums us up nicely. 4-1 up with half an hour to go and lost 6-4 - at home.
Here's a link so those too young to remember Scotland's contribution to the '78 World Cup can better appreciate some of the posts on this thread.

They still do that with the toothless simpletons. What the fvuck Ireland has to do with us I'll never know.
He's loving chasing that egg about Rab. The games are spread about though. Stafford last week, Willenhall today, fecking Sutton Coldfield next week (I think). Away at veysians rugby club I think they're called.
Not my game, but all that matters is that he has a passion for his sport, which I want to encourage, whether it's football, rugby, badminton or ballet dancing.

Stay strong Bro, Wimbledon must be a hard time of the year for you. Respect.
Agree that the level of analysis is just way over the top now. I also struggle to watch any televised game with the sound on as the commentators are absolutely obsessed with providing statistics, most of which have nothing to do with the game in question. Interestingly, my youngest who is just coming up to eighteen is not interested in watching games on tv unless Blues involved. That includes internationals, Champions League and just about everything else.
Kronenbourg on tap
But, but, but, apparently everyone blames the ref.
Glad your littlun seems to be enjoying his sport too
Have to say, the ref at my lad's game today was excellent. Only a young lad, but he had an FA badge on his kit, don't know if he was on some sort of training scheme for climbing the ranks, but he was very good indeed. Can't think of a dodgy decision and even the coaches seemed to respect him without quibble. He gave good instant feedback to the kids too on good play.

I am officially post-football.
I still care quite a lot and follow what's happening at Blues, but the wider game now passes me by. It's just something I stick on TV when I'm too bored or idle to do anything else.
As a result I'm sat here watching an England side which includes players I've never even heard of like Winks, Maguire and some bloke whose name begins with K (I think).
If you'd told me at the age of 12 that one day I'd... Читать дальше...

Score - lost 1-0
Game summary - competitive game just about won by the better footballing side.
Ref watch- shit, comatose little feck. Draining to watch him.
Weather - sunny in the most part. Fantastic for this time of year.
Little Rabs rating - shit. Gleesonesque without the passing ability today

Wembley 2011
eldest was off saturday, played fifa. beat me.
Youngest lad drew 4-4, lukaku junior scored two more to take his tally to 8 in 4, was winning 4-2 but his team are pretty awful at the back and conceded 2 in the last 2 minutes.
Daughter lost 4-0 to a team that only had 6 players - we agreed to match their player number (it's 7 a side) but the girls couldn't really work out what was going on, switched off a bit (we've got 12 players so played 6 on 6 off) and got battered for it.

It's an entertainment business now more than a competitive sport.
I'm the same way. I follow Blues by rarely watch non-Blues football. It's boring and repetitive, especially the Premier League, and that's not even going into how so many clubs casually price people out of the game nowadays as well.
Non-playoff, derby or cup matches...
Agree the Chelsea 1-0 or the win against Leeds in our first prem season.
