Re: Dpf Removing filter
Thinking of getting a Diesel car and was having a look online and apparently you can remove filter from DPF but leave DPF in place, but would still pass Mot because inspectors only do a visual check.
Anybody else heard of this?
Are you 12 ?
If you're caught it is £1000 fine ... and it's quite possible you could have your car taken off the road permanently
Why do you want it done in the first case - it may well not do anything in terms of improvement and cost you £600 to have done (this is for removal and the necessary regen and remap etc)
How are you going to ever sell the car on ?
Will you get caught .. ? it's quite possible, any sight of smoke etc and the MOT blokes, or police will start investigating soon enough and be all over it.
You have to be VERY careful which MOT place you ever go to.
Other main thing in this day and age is that it could invalidate your insurance meaning you are driving without insurance
As it happens, my 17 year old everyday runabout has had the dpf removed and i have a whole raft of certification to justify why it was removed, who removed it and why ... it didn't make much difference apart from getting the car back on the road and not scrapping it when there was no alternative mechanically ..... but obviously it's for off-road use only.
PS .. excuse my reluctance to want to engage but this is just your 7th ever post and you are already asking for advice about something which is illegal
