Son Heung-min has insisted that Tottenham will put their last few results behind them and focus on getting a result against Manchester City.

After an outstanding start to the season, Spurs have fallen to three back-to-back defeats in the Premier League.

Ange Postecoglou would argue that at least two of those results (Chelsea and Aston Villa) were not fair reflections of the game and he will perhaps point to the injury crisis that his side is dealing with as a major mitigating factor.

However, there is now a very real fear that the squad’s confidence might be shattered if this poor run of form continues for too much longer.

Heung-min Son will be ready for Man City clash

Unfortunately for the Lilywhites, they now face their hardest fixture of the season, with a trip to the Etihad Stadium coming up.

While Tottenham have got some good results against Man City over the last few years, a fourth successive loss could end up being a real setback for Postecoglou’s rebuild in North London.

However, Son is confident that he and his teammates are capable of picking up a good result against Pep Guardiola’s men.

When it was put to the Tottenham captain has a good record against City, he told Sports Chosun: “It’s not that I was strong. The team as a whole is really better prepared.

“When it comes to Manchester City, I think it’s because they clearly have a greater desire to win. Man City is a world-class team. Because it is a team that is almost impossible to raise a finger in the world.

“In some ways, they are the best soccer team in the world. There is a reason why they won the treble last season. I think we need to prepare harder this coming week. I think I need to prepare really well both mentally and physically because these are games where one mistake is not acceptable.

“It is definitely a difficult game and I will definitely need more help from my teammates than anyone else, so I will prepare well and play well in this game.

“By recording three consecutive losses, I think we showed many fans unexpected results and unexpected aspects, and the players also have a lot of responsibility in this regard.

“The players also want to do better and are trying to provide more enjoyment, so we will prepare well for the weekend game so that we can have a good game.”

The one thing that would perhaps help Spurs is that they are not expected to get a result at the Etihad, given their recent slump. So, they can play without any pressure and look to hurt City, which they will know they are capable of doing.
