Andrea Harvey Appointed To Lead CEDIA’s New Design & Build Outreach Department
CEDIA has announced the appointment of designer Andrea Harvey as director of design & build outreach, underscoring CEDIA’s continued investment in strengthening relationships across the design and build community and positioning CEDIA members as an essential component of modern living environments.
Harvey’s appointment comes as CEDIA continues to expand its footprint within the design and build sector through a series of high-impact initiatives and partnerships. Harvey will create a new department within CEDIA to enable its members to grow their businesses by forging strong partnerships with interior designers, architects, and builders.
Based in Ellicott City, Maryland, Harvey brings more than 20 years of experience at the intersection of interior design, construction, manufacturer partnerships, and professional education. She is the founder of Ash Interiors & Design, where she has cultivated strong relationships across the design-build ecosystem while advancing collaboration among trade professionals. Her background also includes representing luxury manufacturers, delivering professional education programs, and presenting at national industry forums.
Harvey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts and Business Administration from Elizabeth City State University and is a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS). She is a proud member of ASID and BID and is the founder of the non-profit organization Haven by ASH.
As director of design & build outreach, Harvey will position smart home technology as an essential component of the modern home construction process by engaging with designers, architects, homebuilders, and their trade organizations. Through targeted events, strategic partnerships, and program development, Harvey will support CEDIA members’ business growth by increasing the adoption of integrated technology in both new-build and retrofit residential projects.
New this year, CEDIA has introduced regional editions of its design publication, Technology Meets Design – The Best of Professional Smart Home Style. Created as a coffee-table resource for architects, builders, and interior designers, the publication showcases CEDIA award-winning projects that highlight the value of early collaboration between smart home professionals and allied trades.
CEDIA continues to strengthen relationships with key design and build associations. Last year, CEDIA partnered with NKBA|KBIS for a research study and CEDIA Expo Town Hall presentation examining the current state of technology integration in home design. At the 2026 NKBA Design & Industry Awards, CEDIA presented the first-ever CEDIA Smart Home Technology Award, recognizing excellence in collaboration between design and technology professionals. CEDIA has also been named the official technology sponsor of WOW!house 2026 and continues to work with global design associations such as BIID, ASID, NKBA, and RIBA.
Annually on Nov. 3, CEDIA champions International Smart Home Day to raise awareness of the smart home industry and the professionals who make it all work seamlessly. The first iteration in 2025 was a global success that brought together the design and build community, smart home integrators, and homeowners through locally hosted events, educational programming, and a community-driven social media campaign.
