A survey of the British Indian and Hindu community has found that many are experiencing prejudice owing to their misrepresentation in the UK media deriving from a "colonial" focus on “cows, curry and caste”. Fifty-nine per cent of survey participants said they had personally witnessed or experienced prejudice as a result of the British media reporting on Hindus and Hinduism and 79% said media reports on Hinduism had resulted in negative perceptions of British Indians. A man named Gaurav Sharma allegedly killed his wife, Laxmi, in Gurugram before committing suicide by jumping from a metro station in Ghaziabad. Sharma slit Laxmi's throat and hit her with a brick, as well as their two-year-old son. The incident occurred after an argument at their rented accommodation. The police found Laxmi's body and the injured child in the locked house. Sharma was unemployed and had moved into the flat six months ago. The police later confirmed his identity after he jumped from the metro station.

Odisha records second highest ever state GST collection of Rs 2,578 crore in December 2023, a growth rate of 70.07% compared to December 2022. The state's gross GST collection during December 2023 is Rs 4,351.4 crore, with a growth rate of 12.9%. Total progressive gross GST collection in FY 2023-24 till December 23 is Rs 39,539.6 crore, a growth of 10.08% over the previous year. India's GST collections rise 10.28% to reach Rs 1.65 lakh crore in December 2023.
Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) concluded 2023 with remarkable achievements in passenger traffic. Lt Gen Rana Pratap Kalita, one of the most decorated generals of the Indian Army and a great inspiration in Assam and the northeast, retired on Sunday after over four decades of service. Born in Assam's Tamulpur, he became the first Assamese Army officer to be appointed as a corps commander. Before commanding the Eastern Command, he served in various staff appointments. Lt Gen Kalita expressed gratitude to the almighty, his parents, teachers, superiors, and subordinates for their support. He looks forward to his second innings in Guwahati.
