Yeah there are two sides, I agree.
He can't really slate them when he wasn't involved in the buildup to the game, or pick the team and give them instructions etc.
But still, would've been quite a statement to go in there and tell them "you better not play like that under me as I'll be looking for a huge improvement on Monday" etc.
Midfield wasn't addressed last season or this, yet. Not one player who can pass and tackle and cover ground quickly and beat a man or retain possession for 5 seconds or more. Our ball players are slow and shite defensively, our stoppers/tacklers give it back to the opposition more often than not.
