Left back and free agent David Fitzpatrick signed for Chester FC until the end of the season on Thursday.

I am surprised we have signed another left back, but that said this is still an excellent signing as David has plenty of experience in the National League and even the EFL. He made 22 appearances for Port Vale in Sky Bet League Two only a season ago, while Fitzpatrick also played a key role in Macclesfield Town’s title success in the Vanarama National League a few years ago. Centre back Dan Cowan left Chester FC on Tuesday.

It’s never nice to see somebody lose their job, however Dan’s departure is the correct decision for both parties in my opinion. Still a shame things didn’t work out as planned for him though, because he did convey some glimpses earlier on in the campaign, particularly against Alfreton Town where he scored an injury time winner which I will always thank him for. Right winger Rob Apter signed for Chester FC on an initial 28-day youth loan from Blackpool on Monday.

This has the potential to be a cracking signing as Rob netted 10 goals in 22 appearances for Bamber Bridge in the Pitching-In Northern Premier League Premier Division. Following back-to-back home games we are back on the road today as we make the journey to Yorkshire to play Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC away where we look to preserve our unbeaten record under Steve Watson. Amid all of the drama that went on yesterday, it’s great to have on-field matters to focus on today which can hopefully distract us from the current fiasco off the pitch.
