I like how Cooper is being touted as only selected because he plays for Wigan. He was already in the squad long before Wigan signed him.

I get this I don't watch the NRL much as it's a different offering to our domestic game. I don't think it's any better I just think tactically we got it wrong and that included some of the players selected. All down to the coach
My issue isn’t that he’s being moved on, it’s the lack of forward planning. He hasn’t played (by choice, the Catalan away incident forced him to be selected) since Hull away, that was the Easter weekend. The coach made the decision then that he had lost his trust and he wasn’t part of his plans. Granted we go and sign Nicholson, but then lose Holmes, King/Wardle and Wrench for a significant part of the season and don’t backfill the positions.
We have one spare back, Minikin, with any experience until Wrench returns. Читать дальше...
Zak Hardaker looking good in the new training wear.

[quote="bonaire"]He has pace no doubt. But unfortunately ATM he lacks size.A back row of him Lane and cator would just get runover. Another year and he may well bulk up.

This is a good point. When was the last time we had a real superstar in our comp who stayed long enough to add some real value? The likes of Barba and Lyon were superstars but came here under a cloud due to misdemeanours back home. Barrett was a great player to use Wigan as an example but these were years ago (apart from Barba)
One of my best mates is Polish and doesn't really folllow RL. However he works with a lot of mad Wigan fans (I don't mean crazy I mean keen match going ones). Читать дальше...
Hi all , I'm after some challenge cup photos from Cardiff 05 & Wembley 2016 & 2017 . Do Hull daily mail still sell them ? Has anyone else bought any from somewhere else ?

Quite, ditto Keiron Cunningham.
The reality is that Saints are a settled side in a poor league which makes them look lightyears ahead of other sides.
As for best SL side ever, the Saints side of the mid/late 00's would muller them, never mind the Bulls side from early 00's and the Leeds side from late 00's/early 10's.

The issue here is that England built their self belief on playing nobody. Greece, France and a poor (at that time) Samoa. When finally they come up against a team of worth it just wasn't there.

We need to fundamentally change the organisation of the sport over here, something that we have, allegedly, been doing for over four decades. Tinkering at the edges will not make us competitive with the Aussies. We are a second rate sport compared with the NRL and we need somebody with vision to take the game by the scruff of the neck, unfortunately Chairman Mo is no longer with us. Sadly we have gone backwards since the days of Hanley and co.
People have put the likes of Welsby on a pedestal but... Читать дальше...
I think the perspective/context may be a bit clearer next week Sam when Aus (in my opinion) will blow that samoa side off the park and we'll see just how far off we are (still). Fair enough if they were outstanding, but they weren't, and we were poor.

Squad balance is definitely a concern for 2023. We have obviously overloaded on props, and left ourselves light in other areas. Our first choice 1-17 should be competitive, especially when Wrench returns, but a few injuries in positions other than prop will leave us either playing youngsters (which might not be a bad thing) or trying to fit square pegs into round holes.

Disagree. The Aussie team is definitely as good as ever in my view. The depth of players available in the NRL and the fact that players with islander heritage now make a larger proportion of them means we now have more tier 1 sides. The loss on Saturday was by the smallest of margins. No need to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Common sense says play the same team who beat samoa in the 1st match
If he played different team and lost people would be saying whys he changed it so wane literally couldn't win
Welsby was the best player last time
Gotta remember samoa have 5 or 6 grand final winners from NRL who walked in the origin team and starred in the origin ( luai, Crichton, to'o )
And I hope samoa win next week

My thoughts on Cas trying to top us is that they may build a smaller grandstand in favour of developing another 2 or maybe all 3 of the other stands. They may only build the equivalent of 3 elongated bus shelters with toilets and outlets in them and 1 decent grandstand but from the outside it’ll look like a whole new stadium much the same as Salfords new stadium.
There is then an argument that they are better placed than we are for the future especially if you... Читать дальше...
Shocking news to wake up to on Saturday morning. I met Rob a few times and was a lovely guy. He would do anything for the club. Like many have said, taken far too young. I know he was extremely proud of his son playing rugby at Crigglestone All Blacks. RIP Rob - thoughts with all your family.
